HopShopGo HSG lost my package

A lot of people are looking for reviews on US forwarder. I have been researching for very long before deciding to use HopShopGo. I decided to write my review with this forwarding agent in order to let others know that unexpected things can happen. I have been using Hop Shop Go for 8th times and I was very satisfied with their service, package arrival at their warehouse was updated promptly (usually on the same day). It will take around 2-3 days for the shipment to be shipped and it will be updated in their website with the DHL tracking number.

Recently, they lost my package at their warehouse! 

On 24 May 2012, I created a shipment and requested HSG to ship my package to Malaysia after keeping it for more than 20 days in their US warehouse. I paid USD50.48 just for the shipping cost and my package value only USD110.90, so it is almost 50% but I am ok since I know they charged according to the volumetric weight instead of the actual weight. After 1 week, I still did not see any update and it still show “In progress”. I emailed many times but rarely receive reply. The 1st reply was informing that they need 1-2 days for them to check but after 2 days no further reply. I started to send daily email to them and as expected no reply. Then, every evening I will use their live chat, but they still give me the same unacceptable answer “waiting for logistic update”, ‘waiting for US team’. To me as a customer, I don’t care whether it is US team or SG team and what I see is ONE single entity that is Hop Shop Go.

On 7 June, HopShopGo finally replied saying that their failed to locate my package and asked me to fill up the claim form. After filling up the claim document and providing the invoice, HSG will refund the shipping cost in 3-5 business day but I still need to wait for 7-9 business days them to compensate the cost of my lost package. It is already proven that is their fault for losing it and yet I have to wait for so long. I am ok if after 9 days I guarantee that I can get my money back but just worry that they will give me another excuse that they can’t process it.

I bought those items during 50% off even now they will compensate the exact invoice amount I still cant get the same items with the same price. Also, I need go through so much troubles to followup with them.

Looking for better, cheaper and reliable forwarding agent.

Unfortunate day parking outside Sri Saujana Flat compound

In one of my previous post, http://cmun.blogspot.com/2008/11/way-of-life.html it looks scary to be here but as days go by, I become immune to it and I hate the hassle of finding a new place to move out.  Time passed so fast, it is already the 3rd year I am here, living with closing one eye.

Early in the morning and I got another surprise, my car’s passenger window was broken and broken glasses are all over my car. I only have cassette player in my car, what did the thief want? Ransacked my car and took my sunglasses. Is time to change to new sunglasses. What an unfortunate day, I just had my car tinted few months ago.

The car window repair cost is RM110 and the sunglasses is around RM150. Total loss rm300.
What should I do to prevent this from happening again?

On the way of sending my car to the accessories shop to fix the window, my car became center of attention. Everyone wants to catch a glimpse of my car window.

This is my first car and from the scratches on the body have proof that this car has been with me through thick and thin. I, definitely have no intention to change car at this moment. Seeing those broken glasses all over the place, hurt me. But after this unlucky incident, tomorrow will be better and greater day ahead! :)

2nd day at client site

Today I need to go to client headquarter office which is few stations away from the current office to get the laptop for me to work by train.

I was thinking who I can ask if I need help, look at this station, no one was there! ...

I got my laptop finally and I got my first assignment. Being haven't fully recover from jet lag and time difference and seeing this spec and doing coding in ABAP, the skill that I was not being doing it for a year is a tough task to begin with! With such tight timeline, 2.5 days will be putting my stress level into high mode and it will eventually back to normal mode soon.

It's just so funny when I think about it, I am hearing things that I can't understand, seeing codes that look alien to me but life moves on. :)

I am flying again!

I am flying again after 2 years. I am going to Germany!

Things happened too fast for me to think and plan. I just packed my stuff and get my flight ticket on Friday and fly on Saturday. This week was a hectic and crazy week for me, from chasing confirmation to fly, getting approvals and project code assign. I feel nervous and excited again when I am at the airport alone and keep waiting looking for the correct gate and check in counter. I still have more than 20 hours of flight and transit time ahead.

Wish me have a comfortable and safe trip. Too tired to write more :)

Silence migraine

I had a bad headache since this morning, Panadol doesn’t seem to help. Finally, I gave up and went to the nearest clinic. I told him my symptoms with the pain occur on one side of the head and worsen by physical activity like sitting down.

He didn’t tell me that I have migraine until I got my prescription, migraine painkiller with 100mg of caffeine. I googled migraine and caffeine and only know that caffeine is added to migraine painkiller to treat migraine.

Finally, I realize that I have been having migraine since a year ago. All my questions have finally answered; I wonder why that I will have migraine in the afternoon if I don’t take my daily morning coffee. Migraine has been with me silently but only today I discovered that I have migraine and have been using caffeine to keep me away from the migraine symptom. Migraine can be scary and there is no cure and only painkiller will help to reduce the pain.

Everyone is cutting down on caffeine and I m the one who cant live without caffeine! Friend asked can it be STRESS? I thought I can take in more stress but my body is telling me I cant.
Starting from today I really need to watch out my caffeine intake! All this while, I have the perception that caffeine is bad and will cause headache and it is only true that the most common symptom of caffeine withdrawal is headache.

In one word, how would you describe 2009?
For me, the word "educational" will the best word to describe year 2009. Last year, it was major turn in my technical skill, start anew by picking up ABAP and venture into SAP.

For year 2010, I only want one word, that will be "rewarding" ...

Reflection

This will be the last blog entry of year 2009. I know I rarely write but today is the last day of the year. Whether it is good or bad year, it is going to be over soon.  Did I enjoy the ride?

Today is just like yesterday! The day I moved back to Penang, the first working day… everything seems so fresh in mind but yet so far.

Thank you for the bad days you have given to me, because it made me to become a better person.
Thank you for the good days you have given to me, because it made me see this world as a wonderful & lovely place.

Glimpse of George Town, Penang

Have been calling this place, my second home for a very long time. Will this place remains as my second home in the coming years? I have no idea. As I continue to search for the sense of belonging, I am preparing.... preparing runaway from this place again, it won't happen soon but the idea is always in my mind, hard to erase.

Hooray … Finally I received the parcel from a backpacker friend, Gigo from Taiwan. I met her during my trip to NZ. Now, we are back to our own country to continue what we left behind. She is a freelance accessories designer. I envy her to be able to work on the profession that she has passion with. Honestly, I have no courage and dare not to leave my current ‘rice bowl’ to live my dream that might not able to bring food on the table.

Looking at these gifts unfold some moments in NZ that now has become just a memory.

Finally I have become another online shopper ...

Initially, I really do not feel secure and skeptical on buying things online, what if I pay them and they do not send me the stuff I order or send me the wrong thing. But, I cant resist when I see things that sell online that are indeed cheaper that in the shopping mall, guardian or watson.

It started with buying a few facial products online and I got addicted to shop online soon after that. Whenever I am free especially weekend I will start surfing around until early in the morning just to get the best price of the same item in the “internet mall”.

I will still take some pre-cautions when come to online shopping. Previously I love to shop and strongly agreed that shopping is a temporary painkiller after some bad and stress moments. Now I still hold the same believe but with different approach.

Called me internet addict, I m one by looking at how many hours I spent online daily. I will continue to lock myself in the room with my laptop and USB modem… I can’t foresee how long this lifestyle will last, perhaps it will stop until I find my next venture! ;)

Recently I bump into an article about works around the world… I love the idea of breaking the routine work and the do different thing each day but I will never fit into the job!

Travel TV Presenter

- This is a NO for me. I am not photogenic and not good enough to be one. I don’t have the vibrant personality to show to the world.

Travel writer

- Looks like a cool job, I love this job … travel and write what I feel and see. However, my writing is always boring and can’t give the story a fresh spin. This is out too.

Luxury hotel Inspector

- Don’t even aware that there is this job in the market. Should be pretty fun to have experience staying at the luxury hotels to dusty and bugs infested room. But, what about staying at the haunted room? Scary ...

Travel photographer/videographer

- Interesting & creative job by taking a picture that can tell a story. I like taking pictures but I just hate photo editing job because it is too tedious. In addition this job need some investment on some expensive camera and tool too.

 Commercial pilot?

- I m too old for this! And I hate the long hours in the plane and I don’t want to hold responsibility for hundreds of lives in the air. 

I need a job that will inspire me to climb one mountain after another mountain. I am not changing my career path from IT consultant to any of the above. In fact, I want to take that as a hobby. Perhaps, it is time to find a photography workshop or course to enroll. Above all the choices, photography looks more interesting.
